Urban Heat Island Mitigation: (UHI) Mitigation: On warm summer days, temperatures in an urban area can be anywhere from 2 - 9°F warmer than the surrounding areas. The UHI effect has significant impacts on air quality, heat-related illness and death, increased energy consumption from A/C use.
